Due to a retirement, the Town of Greenfield, N. H., (pop. 1800, daily/seasonal pop. 3500) is seeking a highly visible, full time police chief to lead a department of two full-time and five part-time officers. This quintessential, New England community is located near the center of Hillsborough County and enjoys proximity to Peterborough, Manchester, and Nashua. The department has an operating budget of $240,000. The Chief will be responsible for the daily operation of the department, annual budget preparation, and law enforcement activities. This position is an administrative/patrol position and requires experience with, and knowledge of, municipal and community policing. The ideal candidate will have experience with issues facing a rural community, strong leadership and supervisory skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, prosecutorial experience, and will enjoy being part of an exceptional local government team striving to provide exemplary service to the citizens of the community. A minimum of ten years (10) experience in law enforcement with seven years (7) in a progressively responsible supervisory/administrative capacity is required. A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice is preferred. The selected candidate shall be certified as a full-time NH police officer through NH Police Standards and Training Council and must possess or have the ability to obtain a NH drivers license. The Town offers a competitive benefits package with a salary range starting at $54,000 and negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
