Meeting Minutes

September 21, 2022

Members Attending: Karen Day, Carol Irvin, Sheila Nichols, Roger Lessard

7:05 pm Chairman Roger called the meeting to order.

Business:

Accept or Amend Previous Meeting Minutes

Karen moved to accept the previous meeting minutes. Seconded by Roger. Motion passed.

Old Business:

Meadow Park:

  • Sowing clover seed – Roger has the seed and anticipates spreading them this week.
  • Planning and installing the kiosk – On hold until we have a better sense of things

Pollinator Pathways:

  • Informing community about PP: Anything new? Action Item: Shelia will look into Fish & Game Programs.
  • Designing, acquiring, disseminating PP participant yard signs – Karen moved to allocate up to $200 for 12” PP signs. Seconded by Sheila. Motion passed-all were in favor. Action Items: Karen will order the signs. And will put the Jan. meeting info in the next two editions of the Greenfield Spirit.
  • Publish lists of recommending pollinator-friendly plants and a time line of when they bloom – Not yet linked to website. Action Item: Sheila will check on the GCC’s webpage to look for needed updates.

Completing Projects Already Begun:

  • Resume cleaning out our property from the old gym – Karen & Roger resumed this on 9/19

Moosewood Ecological Progress:

  • Awaiting update – Roger reached out on 9/19 but has not heard back as of yet.

Well Water Testing:

  • Fifteen residents attended the program, twenty samples were collated and delivered to Concord.

Environmental Complaint Response:

  • Continue discussion form July meeting.
  • Memorial garden at Crotched Mountain – Kate

New Business

Recruiting new members - Jim McCormick and Angela Mawbray were present for tonight’s meeting. They purchased Neal Brown’s house on Sunset Lake. Roger explained that the GCC has been trying to make a pollinator friendly environment in Greenfield.

The Sportsman’s Club would like to plant some native plants and would like a recommendation from the GCC. Roger will ask Kate to reach out to Gary Russell for some ideas.

The EMD (Emergency Management Department) would like to share their requested space in the old gym with the GCC, if and when they separate the space into an office and shelter areas. The GCC is open to the suggestion.

8:50 pm Carol motioned to adjourn. Seconded by Karen. Motion passed – all were in favor. The next meeting on the GCC will be on October 19th at 7pm upstairs at the town hall.
