5:30 PM: Brian Giammarino, Police Chief

The Chair opened the meeting at 5:30 pm and noted that due to a ConVal Selectmen’s Advisory Committee meeting at 7pm, tonight’s meeting would end at 6:45pm.

The Chair welcomed Police Chief Brian Giammarino to the meeting. Chief Giammarino introduced Michael Sebor to the Selectboard. Mr. Sebor is interested in working part-time for the Greenfield Police Department. Mr. Sebor is currently retired from the State of New Hampshire State Police and has also served in the military. The Board thanked Mr. Sebor for visiting with them. A discussion about the State of New Hampshire Police Academy class schedule was held. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board thanked Mr. Sebor for his interest in working for the Town of Greenfield. Mr. Sebor shook hands with the members of the Selectboard. The Board is of a consensus that upon completing next steps with the Police Academy that they will welcome Mr. Sebor into the department.

5:45 PM: Jeff LaCourse, Fire Chief

At 5:45, the Chair welcomed Fire Chief Jeff LaCourse to the meeting. Chief LaCourse stated that his visit is to update the Board on the status of the new-to-Greenfield fire truck and advise that there have been some additional repairs required. The cost of the repairs were discussed.  Chief LaCourse stated that the repairs have caused painting the truck and the application of logos to be pushed out. He stated that the early quotes received to paint the truck were much higher than originally anticipated. After several months, the department finally found a reasonably priced shop that can do the work in a reasonable time frame. Chief LaCourse reviewed the Board’s original permission for use of Capital Reserve funds for this purpose, as part of the purchase price, and indicated that the cost will be slightly more than expected. The Selectboard discussed the cost and the quotes received to date and extended permission to cover the increased cost. Chief LaCourse stated that Michael Maguire has been helping with the new truck and has been instrumental in getting the vehicle ready for the road. The repairs can come from the department’s budget and the paint will come from Capital Reserves.

Next, Chief LaCourse updated the Board on the building removal at the Seven Hills facility. The burn went very well and the department put in nearly 14 hours of training time. At the end of the conversation, the Board thanked Chief LaCourse for his report.
