It is the tax collector's duty to assure tax bills are mailed out in a timely fashion and to then collect the taxes. To then process the taxes in an efficient manner.

INFORMATION TO TAXPAYER
Taxpayers desiring any information in regard to taxation or correction of errors must address all inquiries to the Assessor's or Selectboard's Office and NOT the Tax Collector.
Bills in all cases are mailed to the current Owner of record.
Payment of the bill does not prevent the collection of previous unpaid taxes, nor does an error in the name of the person taxed prevent collection.
If payment of the bill is made by mail:
1. Return one copy of the Tax Bill.
2. Enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope and the entire Tax Bill for return of receipted bill.
If the bill is paid by check or money order, it is not consedered paid until the check or money order is cleared.
If you are elderly, disabled, blind, a veteran or veteran's spouse, you may be eligible for a Tax Exemption or Credit. If you feel you may be eligible, you must apply prior to April 15th to be considered for the next tax cycle. For details and application information, contact the Assessor's or Selectboard's Office.
The taxpayer may, by March 1st following the last date of notice of tax and not afterward, apply in writing to the Assessor's or Selectboard's Office for a Tax Abatement or Deferral or are unable to pay taxes due to poverty or other good cause.
Any change of mailing address request, must be submitted to the Assessor's or Selectboard's Office in writing and authorized by all Owners. Please list all related properties or map and lot numbers on your request.
