Meeting Minutes
November 20, 2002
Minutes were read and approved.
We received a letter from NHDES about the Minimum Impact Application that was submitted by the Greenfield Highway Department. They have some concerns that need to be addressed. David and Karen will make an appointment to go to Concord to talk to them on November 22nd.
David Voymas went to the Budget Hearing on November 7th and our budget was approved.
Recap of NHACC classes attended:
Roger went to the Wildlife Habitat Assessment class. He said it was very well done. He got a handout which he shared with us. He doesn’t think we would be equipped to do one. David asked if there was anything we could use for the NRI. Roger thought it would only be useful if we were going to do a prime wetland study. Roger also attended the Trails course. It covered a lot more than most people could use.
David attended the Invasive Species course. He was surprised by the length of the list. He found that you should never pull loosestrife and if you need to mow than do so because it doesn’t matter what time of year you do it, there will be something in bloom.
We all talked about the wealth of information that can be found at NHACC. We all brought back many fact sheets to add to our collection of data.
David attended the Soil Testing course. He learned just how complicated soil testing really is which in turn made him recognize the importance of a soil scientist.
Karen talked about the Water Conservation course she went to. The state is studying whether there are ways that communities can conserve drinking water. There were many towns that had water shortages during the drought and there are still towns that have that shortage now even after the rains this fall.
Mail:
We received a letter from Francestown Land Conservation for a donation for a piece of land in Francestown that they are trying to save. We decided not to donate for land in another town.
We received notification from NHDES that Helene & Lynne Cohen on New Boston Road have a permit to mitigate wetlands.
We received a draft of the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan from the Office of State Planning for NH Outdoors 2003-2007 to administer federal water and conservation funds. There will be public meetings: Dec 3rd, Dec. 4th, Dec. 9th, Dec. 10th, Dec. 12th, and Dec. 13th.

Bill Jennings on Francestown Road – 100,000MBF W. Pine, 250 tons of pine pulp, and 300 tons chips.
