Budget Committee
Meeting July 11 2006
Attending: Karen Day, Bruce Dodge, Mike Steere, Norm Nickerson, John Garabrant and Selectman Aaron Kullgren
First order of business was to welcome or two new members Norm Nickerson and John Garabrant, and to announce the resignation of long serving member Al Burtt.
The Committee wishes to express our thanks to Al for his work and dedication to this committee and the Town of Greenfield.
Discussion centered around our mission for the coming budget season of educating the citizens of Greenfield on the budget and its impact on tax rates.
Members have assignments in support of that mission, including analysis of current and recent town budgets and researching neighboring towns.
Discussing continued topics included better way to manage the budget
Instituting a purchase order system,
Why budgets have risen so fast,
The role of the Fund Balance in controlling the spiraling tax rate.
Asking for bids on any job over $1000.00
